Until bicycle cleaners were developed, there were the most wonderful recommendations with which a bike was to be washed. Rash was one of them. Fortunately, it got around - detergent is not a good idea! With the false “means” you can ruin the paint of the frame, invite the flu grost or mess up the drive. Today there are excellent bike cleaners that not only clean the components of your bike without any problems, they even ensure that it lasts longer and protect the environment.
