With the introduction of the new Shark Road disc with Centerlock for road bikes and gravel bikes, its most powerful disc to date, Galfer continues to push innovation and high performance. Designed for maximum efficiency, control, and lightness, the new Shark® Road disc expands and strengthens the road range of Galfer, combining top-quality materials, cutting-edge technology, and a clear focus on demanding cyclists.

Developed by professionals, built for every rider
The Shark Road disc was developed and refined in collaboration with the Lotto Cycling Team, a professional team competing at the highest international level in World Tour events such as the Tour de France, the Vuelta a España, and classics like Paris-Roubaix, Milan-San Remo, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, or the Amstel Gold Race. Thanks to this valuable feedback, the Galfer engineers optimized key aspects such as lateral stiffness, brake modulation, and heat dissipation. The intense use in competition, including demanding races like the spring classics, the Tour, and the Vuelta, made the team a testing ground for practical applications. This technical alliance was crucial in developing a brake disc that meets the needs of all riders seeking performance, lightness, and reliability in every brake.

Innovative Shark technology for road and gravel 
The Shark technology, synonymous with innovation and performance for Galfer, now reaches the world of road and gravel after redefining braking standards in the MTB and Moto Off-Road series of the brand. This advanced solution, based on a sophisticated inner vane and ventilation design, has set new benchmarks for heat dissipation under extreme conditions, ensuring a more stable, controlled response and longer component lifespan.

Every part of this new brake disc has been carefully designed to optimize braking performance for road and gravel:

• The iconic wave design of the brake track allows for precise modulation, providing progressive and stable control even under extreme conditions
• The innovative Shark fins play a crucial role in efficient heat dissipation, ensuring that temperature remains controlled even during long or demanding descents
• The brake disc core is CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminium, a material suitable for aerospace with high flatness and structural strength. Its shape has been AI-optimized for maximum stiffness at minimal weight
• 8 mm stainless steel hollow rivets ensure a solid, reliable connection between parts without additional weight

• The brake track is made of hardened stainless steel, ensuring high durability and consistent thermal behaviour

More efficient braking, higher durability
This new brake disc also improves key aspects of performance on the road:

• It offers higher lateral stiffness and forces both brake caliper pistons to work symmetrically, avoiding unwanted friction. This not only improves braking performance but also ensures even wear of the brake pads and extends their lifespan.
• It features a centerlock ring specifically designed for road use, with a notched locking system that prevents loosening during prolonged use or hard descents.
• The complete unit is 10-20 grams lighter than other widely used road bike options, without sacrificing strength or reliability: 91 g at ø140 mm and 102 g at ø160 mm.
