Ergon SM3 Carbon saddle
The SM3 is the first saddle made by Ergon and could already inspire at Eurobike 2011. The development of a bicycle saddle is ergonomically one of the biggest challenges.
A saddle must absorb about half of the body weight. The resulting pressure must be distributed to the relatively low saddle surface in such a way that the sensitive body regions in the seating area remain as painless and free of complaints as possible. At the same time, the power of the driver should be brought to the pedals as efficiently as possible.
Problems in the seating area have a very direct and strong influence on the performance and overall well-being of the driver. The numerous influencing factors that should be considered in a saddle development are highly complex: bicycle type, seat position, body angle, seat bone distance, gender, body weight, training condition, mileage, intensity of use, road condition and much more.
In addition to sports ergonomics and sports medicine, other disciplines are required, such as mechanical engineering, materials science, process engineering, CAD design, industrial design, to name but a few.
The development team behind Ergon Sätteln is made up of the best specialists in the respective field. Her work methodology is state-of-the-art, her motivation is her passion: the passion for cycling, the joy of innovation and the enthusiasm for top performance.
The sensor-based measuring methods used in the Ergon ergonomic laboratory for saddle development were developed in Germany and are among the most modern in the world. The effort and intensity with which Ergon saddles are developed has one clear goal: to build the ergonomically best, most comfortable and most efficient saddles in their class.
The pictures show different models of the SM3 saddle. These differ in their design, not in appearance.
