Terry Highlights

Things to know about Terry

Your saddle - so small and yet so important! The bicycle saddle is actually only a part of your bike. But if it doesn't fit you, the whole bike is no fun!

Terry employs a team of physiotherapists, urologists and sports physicians to develop saddles that provide excellent seating comfort. Width, length and the cutouts are finetuned according to strictly ergonomic principles until they allow for perfect comfort. The material list of the saddles is short, but of high quality. There is a stiff saddle base, a PU foam padding and a weatherproof cover on top

Those who like a particularly well padded seat can choose a saddle with an extra gel layer. The saddles on which you sit very upright are equipped with additional Cellasto suspension if desired. Some models are assembled manually, those saddles come with another special feature: here, the relief opening is sealed with a splash protection that keeps splash water and wind away from your behind.

Which Terry saddle do you need?

If you are worried now that you have to choose out of 1000 different versions, we have good news for you. Choosing the right saddle is actually quite simple. The first step is the selection by gender, after that you consider the type of bike (or the seating position). Now you decide if you want a gel pad or suspension. There, you’re done!

Terry saddles for women and men

Should women ride a different saddle than men? Terry clearly thinks "Yes!"and builds every bike saddle in a version for ladies and a version for men. A women's saddle offers a relief opening in the front, Terrys men's saddles relieve the tissue especially towards the rear.

So to ensure that your saddle fits perfectly, you should first select saddles for women and saddles for men (look out for "Men" and "Women" in the article description).

Which riding position do you prefer?

In order to support you well, the width of the saddle must match your riding position. The rule of thumb is: The lower you sit, the narrower the saddle's rear must be. If you ride sitting upright, you'll sit more comfortably on a wider saddle.

RaceComfort - the Arteria series is the ideal Terry saddle for road cycling.

To have as little wind resistance as possible, road cyclists sit in a very low, stretched out position. Therefore, Arteria, the Terry saddle for road bikes, is the narrowest saddle in the range. Race bike saddles for women and men have a large opening in the middle to relieve heavily strained areas. As always with road bike saddles, there is no padding, but here you can opt for an extra-comfortable gel layer. A Terry Race saddle can also be the right saddle for a race MTB or for speed-oriented gravel riders.

RaceComfort is optimal for a very low riding position.

SportComfort, the Exera series

The Terry SportComfort saddle was developed for athletic cyclists who need a little more padding. The narrow nose of the saddle allows a sportive riding style, while the PU foam and optional gel padding increase seating comfort. Exera is designed for marathon MTBs, endurance road bikes and gravel bikes.

SportComfort is intended for a low, sporty seating position.

FitnessComfort Figura - the saddle for speed and comfort

Usually you have to decide - do you want to be fast or comfortable? Terry's Figura is a good mix of both. It's the perfect saddle for endurance rides, and for alternating between quick sections and long hours of pedaling. It is recommended for MTBs, endurance road bikes and gravel bikes, it can also be used on touring bikes

FitnessComfort is designed for riders who assume a moderately low riding position.

Terry TouringComfort touring saddle - Fisio is the specialist for all purposes

The more upright you sit, the more vibrations impact on your spine. To protect your back, you can buy a Terry Fisio saddle not only with foam padding and gel insert, there are also shock absorbers that cushion unevenness of the ground. Fisio is the perfect saddle for trekking bikes, but can also be ridden on a city bike or MTB.

Fisio is particularly comfortable if you prefer a slightly flexed, almost upright sitting position.

The Anatomica series offers CityComfort

City bike or leisure bike, on these bikes you sit very upright, there is no weight resting on your arms, your entire body weight lies on the saddle. In order to distribute the weight evenly, saddles for this riding position provide a large surface and are also well padded. If you choose Anatomica, the Terry saddle for city bikes, you should definitely treat yourself a model with shock absorbers, that way not every bump in the road is directly passed on to your intervertebral discs!

If you sit upright with a straight back, a CityComfort saddle is perfect for you.

To make your choice easier, Terry offers a saddle finder on his homepage.

Why should you choose a Terry saddle with a gel pad?

You can buy every Terry saddle in a version with gel cushioning or without that extra layer. But which version is better? Basically, gel pads significantly increase your comfort, because they deform rather than compress and thus adapt more easily than foam pads. The gel inlay also provides excellent cushioning and is therefore highly recommended on gravel, cobblestones and other difficult surfaces. Only few cyclists find the feeling of sitting on a gel pad "mushy" and uncomfortable; as a rule, a gel saddle is very comfortable

What else can you do to sit more comfortably in the bike seat?

There are other ways to adjust the saddle of your bike to make it more comfortable for you. If you suffer from pain on your bike that doesn't improve even if you try different saddles, you may simply be riding the wrong bike! If the frame shape or size is not optimal for you, this can cause problems, especially on long rides. Even though this solution may be bitter, you may feel more comfortable on a different bike

Or maybe you just need a little more cushioning? A suspension seatpost absorbs the shocks that rough ground causes. Rigid seatposts can also help you sit more comfortably. You can buy bent seatposts that shift your riding position, and thus change the stress on your tissue and back. Padded cycling pants with a cushion of foam, gel, or both, is another way to be more comfortable in the saddle.

A saddle that fits you well, however, is the most important measure! But even the best saddle can become uncomfortable when it is positioned in the wrong place! Try moving it around a little bit to find the most comfy position.
