The clincher, or internationally also called clincher, is the most widely used standard among bicycle tires. A wire ring is pulled through the tire bead, so the rubber can not expand under pressure and jump from the rim.
The folding tire is a variant of the clincher. In this construction, the wire ring is replaced by Kevlar threads. This offers the advantage of folding the tire casing to a smaller pack size and also saves a lot of weight due to the lightweight Kevlar.
TR - Tubeless Ready
The abbreviation TR stands for Tubeless Ready. With these tire coats you have the choice whether you drive with or without hose. So that no air is lost in the tubeless, the tubeless tire, a special sealing milk is used. It seals the tire perfectly and in many cases even serves as a first breakdown aid. Smaller holes are immediately re-sealed using tubeless milk, leaving the tire with minimal air leakage. You can inflate your bike tire without the hassle of hose repair and continue your tour.
UST - Universal System Tubeless
The Universal System Tubeless short UST is similar to the TR system. Here is also dispensed with the hose, but comes with UST tires and no tubeless milk used. The tire has a different structure and requires UST rims, which are already sealed.
In the tubular tire, a tube is sewn directly into the tire and is glued to special rims. This variant is mainly used in road cycling. Many professionals still rely on the system, the reason for this is a particularly smooth rolling and cornering behavior. However, a modern folding tire is in no way inferior to a tubular tire in terms of rolling resistance. A clear advantage of the system is that it does not jump off the rim on a possible plate. Thus, the cyclist can roll out without danger and in the race even cover a few meters until the material cart is on site. The big disadvantage is the assembly, by sticking to the rim a tire change is considerably more expensive than other bicycle tires.
A tire for hardship is the studded tire. If the winter is particularly icy and snowy, the handle to spikes is worthwhile. We offer you different models of Continental and Schwalbe in the shop. The spike tires have a pronounced profile and are additionally equipped with the so-called spikes, small metal pins. They offer you the best grip on the winter tour in the forest by mountain bike, but also on icy-smooth places in everyday life, such. On the way to work, for example, studded tires give you the necessary safety.
