Description

The Valais 25 is an adapter that enables the use of a saddlebag with a dropper seat post. The Valais is mounted on the seat tube (upper part of the dropper post) and provides a secure attachment point while protecting the seat tube from wear and the wiper seal from damage.

We have two Valais diameters available, so you need to know the diameter of your seat tube. Valais 25 refers to the height of the strap that the Valais allows (25 mm or 1" strap width). The dual-lip design securely holds bags with straps up to 25 mm wide, and at full compression, the deep hem first contacts the sealing collar to protect sensitive seals from damage. While the Valais is optimised for straps up to 25 mm wide, it also works with wider straps. The adapter is made from a technical thermoplastic injection moulding and is strong enough to serve as a temporary support in case of a dropper post failure in the backcountry.

  • Strong, durable and non-abrasive: DuPont™ Delrin® thermoplastic allows for easy snap-on installation and full strength down to -20°F / -29°C.
  • Shifts gear onto the bike: Small and medium saddle bags are ideal storage places for tubes, mini-tools and CO₂ cartridges, keeping them always within reach while leaving top tube and handlebar bags free for frequently used items.
  • Protects the dropper post: Affordable insurance – the Valais protects dropper seat tubes from wear that occurs at the interface of saddlebag, seat post and dirt thrown up from the bike.
  • Emergency support: Even as dropper posts continue to improve, failures still occur – often far from the trailhead. The Valais can be used to keep the post extended, allowing the rider to comfortably backpedal out of the backcountry.
  • Raceday travel limiter: When seven inches is more than the terrain requires, the Valais can be used to limit the dropper travel to the needed height.
  • 35 mm high.

Compatibility

  • Valais limits the travel of the dropper post by at least 25 mm.
  • Dropper post must have internal cable routing.
  • Optimised for straps up to 1" (25 mm) wide, but also works with wider straps.
  • There are two Valais sizes: for seat tubes with a 25 mm diameter and for seat tubes with a 26 mm diameter. Measure the diameter of the upper seat post tube to determine the correct size.

Valais 25 mm: suitable for posts with a seat tube diameter of 24.75–25.25 mm. Known posts of this size include:

  • Easton Haven
  • Giant Contact (internal cable routing)
  • RaceFace Turbine
  • RockShox Reverb Stealth
  • Specialized Command Post
  • 9Point8 Fall Line
  • Bikeyoke Revive

Valais 26 mm: suitable for posts with a seat tube diameter of 26–26.5 mm. Known posts of this size include:

  • Wolf Tooth Resolve*
  • Thomson Covert
  • Fox Transfer
  • KS eTen
  • One-Up

At full compression, the deep hem of the Valais first contacts the sealing collar and does not touch the sealing lip (to protect sensitive seals).

Note: Dropper posts with discrete positions will likely lose the lowest position, as the Valais reduces the travel by 25 mm.
We do not recommend using the Wolf Tooth Valais on the Wolf Tooth Resolve dropper post, as anything that prevents full travel reduces the self-bleeding capability of the post.

Installation

  1. Remove screw and slide the Valais over the seat post tube.

  2. Place the Valais in the highest position, insert screw and tighten to 2–3 Nm.

  3. Mount the saddlebag as it will be fully loaded on the trail.

  4. Release all air from the shock, lower the post and fully compress the bike's suspension.

  5. Ensure there is enough clearance between the tyre and saddlebag. If the clearance is not sufficient, raise the dropper post and lower the Valais until the clearance fits.

  6. Reinflate the shock and ensure the Valais is securely tightened to 2–3 Nm.
