As modern 29ers combine aggressive, flat geometries with equally aggressive pedal platforms, there’s no reason why a climbing bike can’t also be a party bike. The Syerra proves this, with a fast-rolling, grippy centre strip and a tread that is spaced, shaped, and ribbed to provide grip on climbs, rocks, and roots or under braking and cornering loads.

The generous knob arrangement also clears mud and dirt, and the overall volume of the Syerra ensures it floats on root lattices and rock gardens we wouldn’t have dared to ride with 29ers a decade ago. Despite this added cushioning and traction, the relatively lightweight construction ensures the tyre still gets up to speed quickly.
