Greg Minnaar's signature tire is the essence of his 30 years of racing experience and the expertise of Maxxis from over 50 years of tire production. The idea behind the Assegai was to develop a tire that perfectly combines the golden mean between grip and speed in one package. Its tread is a blend of the profiles of the Minion DHF, Minion DHR II, and the Highroller, so the Assegai combines the best of the three tires: lower rolling resistance, optimal braking power transmission, and aggressive grip under all conditions. Additionally, the Assegai is Tubeless Ready, as tubeless tires have many advantages: you can ride with less air pressure, resulting in better traction and reduced rolling resistance. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures also decreases. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other 'Tubeless Ready' tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a true UST tubeless tire. This makes tubeless mounting on all standard rims successful on the first inflation and with little fluid.
