DH World Cup courses today are steep technical monsters with constantly changing conditions. The pros from Maxxis needed a mid-spike tire that handles dry, loose, and rutted corners just as well as some mud. The Shorty is such a tire. A large-volume dual-ply casing makes it more versatile than our mud tire WetScream. Large, tall, and slightly staggered side knobs penetrate loose ground and ensure predictable cornering at light speed. In the center, two types of knobs alternate: rectangular knobs and square knobs, with strong bite when braking and excellent self-cleaning.

Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube, the risk of punctures also decreases. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other 'Tubeless Ready' tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer like a true UST tubeless tire. This makes tubeless mounting on all rims with standard dimensions successful on the first inflation and with little fluid. Even 'normal' Maxxis MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires from other manufacturers, as the carcass fabrics are very dense. However, only the new Maxxis TR models are officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by Maxxis.

3C MaxxTerra is exactly the right 3C compound for Maxxis's Enduro and Freeride tires. Ease of climbing uphill, as well as the best grip downhill, characterize this compound just as much as a long lifespan. 

The Exo Protection, consisting of extremely cut and abrasion-resistant material, protects the sidewall of various MTB tires. It is very tightly woven, lightweight, and very flexible. This keeps the performance of the tires consistently convincingly good.
