Park Tool Diamond abrasives for carbon brake pads

The 2197 is an accessory for the Park Tool DT-5 and DT-5.2 disc brake facing tool set, designed to enable easier and more efficient machining of disc brake mounts on carbon fiber frames. It features a brazed diamond grit surface that is over 100 times more durable and effective on carbon fibers than the cutter included in the DT-5.2. The 2197 sits between the cutter of the DT-5.2 and the brake mount, gently and evenly grinding the contact surface until it is flat and properly perpendicular to the brake disc.

• Compatible with post-mount and flat-mount disc brake mounts

NOTE: The 2197 is intended only for machining carbon fibers. Disc brake mounts made of aluminum, steel, and titanium should be machined with the cutter #2171, which is included with the DT-5.2. For carbon frames with aluminum inserts (with a carbon/aluminum hybrid mounting surface), use the #2197. When machining carbon fiber, you should regularly apply water (or a similar solution) to the cutting surface.
