The Evolution of the Comfort Original
Ergon has made the best wing grip of all time even better. The consistent further development of the GP1 stands for maximum hand comfort, optimal pressure distribution, and highest, pollutant-free material quality. With this Evo version of the multi-award-winning comfort original, Ergon sets a new standard for ergonomic, pain-free cycling on touring and fitness bikes. For the first time, design, development, and manufacturing are "Made in Germany." This allows for a more targeted and sustainable implementation of the claim to deliver the highest quality down to the smallest detail on shorter paths.
No Pain, No Numbness
Hand discomfort while cycling is widespread, especially on longer tours. With conventional, rather round or seemingly ergonomic grips, numbness in the fingers often occurs, as well as pain and irritation in the palm and wrists. Complaints in the lower and upper arms, as well as in the neck and shoulders, can often be traced back to unsuitable grips. Permanent misalignments can cause pain, such as carpal tunnel syndrome. With the iconic GP1, Ergon has already enabled millions of cyclists to enjoy a pain-free riding experience for more than 20 years.
Distributes Pressure, Protects the Nerves
While cycling, a significant portion of body weight rests on the hands holding the handlebars. This leads to strong pressure on a small area of the grip. The extremely sensitive ulnar nerve, which runs close to the skin surface in the area of the little finger ball, is often constricted, causing unpleasant numbness. The perfectly hand-adapted wing shape of the GP1 Evo effectively distributes the point-strong pressure over a larger area, thus preventing discomfort.
Straight Wrist Prevents Discomfort
When the wrist bends while cycling, nerves, tendons, and blood vessels are compressed. This can lead to a narrowing of the carpal tunnel and potential damage to the median nerve. The ergonomic wing construction of the GP1 Evo supports the wrist in a gentle, straight position. This can effectively prevent issues such as painful wrists, numbness in the fingers, tingling, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Two Sizes for Optimal Pressure Distribution
To effectively distribute pressure on the handlebars and prevent discomfort, it is important that the hand does not completely enclose the grip. For this reason, Ergon offers the GP1 Evo in the sizes "Small" and "Large." The main difference lies in the grip width. This means a thicker grip provides a better fit for a larger hand, while a thinner grip is more advantageous for a smaller hand – also for safety, as the optimal form closure also ensures the best control over the bicycle.
