The ergonomic touring saddle specifically for men: Thanks to orthopedic comfort foam and large gel pads, you always sit comfortably even on long distances. The saddle shape and relief channel are precisely adapted to the male anatomy and relieve pressure from the sensitive perineal area.

 

Anatomical Gel Pads

When cycling, the majority of your body weight rests on the small saddle surface. To prevent discomfort in the extremely sensitive perineal and genital area, the pressure is distributed as evenly as possible on the sit bones. In the ST Gel, the large anatomical gel pads play a crucial role: They provide you with additional comfort by following the natural movements of the sit bones, which alternately carry the body weight on the left and right during pedaling.

Anatomically Optimized for Men

Numbness while cycling often occurs in men due to high pressure in the sensitive perineal area. The external genitals, on the other hand, rarely cause discomfort as they can move and are not compressed by bony structures.

The Right Size

The shape and size of a saddle's seating surface must match the sit bone distance of the rider. Since the pelvic bones taper forward in a V-shape, the saddle must be able to provide a sufficiently large support surface for the sit bones in different seating positions. The saddle widths are chosen so that the usable seating surface corresponds to the sit bone distance. The more forward-leaning a rider sits, the further forward the sit bones touch the saddle.

Truly comfortable

As a touring cyclist, you sit slightly inclined to upright on the saddle. For these typical body postures, we developed the shape of the ST Gel.

The flat, evenly distributed support surface of the saddle, on which your body weight rests, also significantly contributes to preventing seating discomfort, numbness, and other unpleasant sensations – ideally supported by the orthopedic comfort foam with gel pads. You sit comfortably like on a sofa: So you feel comfortable at all times, even on long tours.

THE FEEL-GOOD FORMULA

Thoughtful components

To protect you from seating discomfort as much as possible, the Ergon developers have combined several important components in the ST Gel: The construction of the seating surface, the structure of the seat cushion, the specifically pronounced relief channel, and an optimal seat shell for touring. For this, we use a nylon composite material – other manufacturers use polypropylene here, which, however, provides less support.

The secret of the narrow nose

The most beautiful bike tour is only really fun when nothing presses or chafes along the way. If the thighs rub against the front of the saddle while pedaling, the fun is often quickly over. We also considered this in the development of the ST Gel: The saddle nose is narrowly cut, providing you with the best possible leg freedom while cycling.

ORTHOPEDIC FOAM

Comfortable and robust

The padding of the ST Gel consists of orthopedic comfort foam, which we have tuned to be pleasantly soft yet defined for touring riders. The pressure of the body weight on the seating area is significantly better distributed in conjunction with the large gel pads, increasing the support strength. Wearing cycling shorts is not necessarily required. The saddle is covered with robust microfiber, so even frequent riders can enjoy the ST Gel for a long time.
