Description
Many riders swear by increasing the front in downhill biking these days. Some use handlebars with high rises, others clamp so-called stem spacers between the fork bridge and handlebars or install headset spacers under the upper fork bridge. The reason for this is obvious. Raising the front provides more safety on steep tracks. It takes some pressure off the hands and ensures more relaxed runs. Fine-tuning the riding position and thus the wheel loads is possible – the bike's cornering behavior can be positively influenced.
Such an increase is especially sensible when frames with a very long reach (very large frames) are used: In some cases, the rider would be positioned too much on the handlebars with a flat front. By raising the front, the rider stands a bit more upright and thus experiences a more central riding position. The increase is also recommended for very tall riders who would otherwise achieve a very hunched 'steering position.' However, the special feature of our spacer is that it not only raises the steering center by 12 mm but also shifts the stem forward by 10 mm: Due to the very slack head angle on modern DH bikes, raising the stem also moves the entire unit backward and shortens the rider's 'workspace.' If the rider uses an 8 mm thick headset spacer ring in conjunction with the 12 mm high Stem-Spacer 12/10, they raise their front by a total of 20 mm. In conjunction with a 63° head angle, a 20 mm increase would move the handlebars 10.2 mm backward – the spacer compensates for this length difference exactly, effectively raising the handlebars.
The delivery includes a spacer and 4 mounting screws for secure installation on the fork bridge. The spacer fits direct-mount interfaces according to the state of the art, as found on current RockShox, Fox, BOS, Marzocchi, or Manitou downhill forks.
