General Information about the Sleuth DLX
Universally usable products are often burdened with the negative image that they can do a little bit of everything, but nothing really well. But what if this is exactly what the product is meant to do?
The adidas/5.10 Sleuth DLX shoe is supposed to bridge the gap between two worlds. In short: Grip on the pedal and comfort as well as style in the city.

Thus, the Sleuth DLX is primarily designed in black with only a few gray and gold accents set by the manufacturer. In terms of style, the shoe scores points and also makes you look good when eating ice cream in the city, as it does not have the classic cycling shoe look but is more comparable to a sneaker.
The upper material of the shoe is also made of suede. This not only looks good but is also extremely high-quality and robust. Of course, it is not necessarily suitable for reckless downhill use in rainy weather, but for universal use on and off the bike, it is just right. Water droplets bead off effortlessly, and dirt can also be easily removed from the shoe.

The sole of the Sleuth DLX is, as is customary for Five Ten, made from the so-called "Stealth" material. This one-piece molded rubber sole provides enormous grip on the pedal, yet remains very comfortable and durable. The soft sole allows the pedal pins to dig into the material and the shoe does not slip. Nevertheless, the material is so resistant that the sole does not quickly disintegrate into its components.
The golden Adidas logo on the shoe tongue is also unmistakable. If you're wondering what the Adidas logo is doing on a 5.10 shoe, we can provide the answer. Adidas bought the company Five Ten some time ago, so it was only natural that a combined shoe would eventually emerge. The Sleuth DLX clearly has the look of an Adidas sneaker, but with the Stealth sole, it also gets the 5.10 bike shoe genes.

Our test result for the Five Ten Sleuth DLX
How do you test a shoe that should look good both on the bike and in the city? Quite simply: we rode through the city with the 5.10 Adidas Sleuth DLX, made stops here and there, and finally ended up on the pump track to get everything out of the shoe with the dirt bike.
The shoe is really extremely comfortable and gives you the feeling of wearing a pure street shoe or sneaker. You can walk completely unrestricted because the sole is nice and soft and the shoe rolls well. The wobbly and rigid feeling that you occasionally experience with bike shoes with a hard sole is completely absent with this model.

Nevertheless, the shoe also performs on the pedal. The Stealth sole is known for its incredible grip, and it's the same with the Sleuth DLX. Once the pedal pins have drilled into the shoe sole, it takes quite some effort to slip the foot on the pedal. So you always have full control on the bike and can easily tackle demanding trails.
In addition, the Adidas Five Ten Sleuth DLX enables excellent contact with the pedal . Due to the relatively thin sole, you stand quite close to the pedal axis and can control the bike even better.

The shoe is despite its sneaker look and direct pedal contact still suitable for long days on the pedals, as it offers a good balance between soft comfort and a certain firmness. The latter is needed to still have a good feeling in the foot even after hours in the saddle or on the pedal.
Only the ventilation could be a bit better for a shoe that is supposed to be worn in daily life. We started sweating relatively quickly, even though we didn't exert ourselves enormously.

Our conclusion on the shoe
If you are looking for a universally usable bike shoe that is also comfortable and stylish in the city, then the Five Ten Sleuth DLX will absolutely delight you. The shoe has a super comfortable fit, is high-quality processed and scores with the Stealth sole also with an enormous grip on the pedal. The contact to the bike is high and it allows good control. We can absolutely recommend the Sleuth DLX as a multi-talent.
