Description
A different angle - The new 350 with Ratchet DEG
The patent-pending Ratchet DEG system is based on a different approach than conventional freewheel systems. It operates with a smaller engagement angle, providing maximum reliability. The simultaneous engagement of the ratchet rings results in a larger contact area than pawl hubs – and thus a more even distribution of the load. The two enlarged ratchet rings have 72 teeth. With just 5°, they offer the smallest engagement angle of all hubs in the DT Swiss range. On the trail, this leads to less pedal kickback. The reduced crank dead travel allows for more direct acceleration, for example, when coming out of corners. It also makes it possible to adjust the position of the pedals more quickly. This is relevant, for example, when it comes to avoiding obstacles on a technically demanding uphill trail.
Optimized hub
To implement a changed engagement angle compared to previous possibilities, the hub design on the drive side had to be fundamentally changed. The Ratchet DEG system and the new freewheel body now allow the installation of the size-optimized ratchet rings with 72 teeth.
Ratchet rings with 72 teeth
The DEG ratchet rings made of steel are larger than in all previous DT Swiss models. They are also intended to make it easier for the strongest riders to transfer power over a long term and over a large contact area.
Reduced maintenance effort
The innovative design of the 350 DEG hub allows the bearing to be replaced without special tools.
