Continental Grand Prix 4-Season 28 inch folding tire

The Grand Prix 4-Season withstands extreme conditions thanks to its DuraSkin® fabric. In the Paris-Roubaix race, the “Hell of the North,” riders equipped with DuraSkin® tires have by far the fewest defects. It is characterized by very high mileage with excellent grip on wet roads and at low temperatures.

With the variants 23 mm, 25 mm, 28 mm, and 32 mm, the Grand Prix 4-Season can be adjusted to different road qualities and comfort requirements. The double Vectran® Breaker increases puncture and cut protection to by far the highest values in market comparison.

Premium

The Continental Premium tires are manufactured to deliver top performance. They feature the latest technologies, developed together with the world's most successful athletes. They are handcrafted by experienced specialists in Korbach (Germany). In addition, selected materials are used for the highest quality and outstanding properties.

DuraSkin

Tires with DuraSkin sidewall protection must be able to take a beating. They are used under the most adverse conditions. On messenger bikes, the tires slide along curbs, on touring bikes they cross continents without wearing through, and in racing, they must withstand endurance tests like Paris-Roubaix. The high-quality polyamide fabric reliably protects the sidewall of the tire and prepares the tire for the extreme. You can recognize tires with DuraSkin® by the characteristic brown sidewall.

Vectran™Breaker

Vectran™ is a synthetically manufactured high-tech fiber with a natural model. Like spider silk, Vectran™ is a liquid crystalline polymer (LCP). Vectran™ is spun from the melted liquid polymer Vectra and further processed into a multifiber yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran™ have enormous tear resistance with minimal weight.

The resistance is demonstrated by many applications of Vectran™: tether lines for astronauts, spinnaker sails, deep-sea cables, cut-resistant clothing. Vectran™ is found everywhere extreme durability is required. The Vectran™ fiber has five times higher tensile strength than steel, is fatigue-resistant, and thus extremely durable. Exactly the right properties to be used as a puncture protection insert in a Continental top tire.

A Vectran™Breaker is lighter, more flexible, and protects more effectively against cuts than comparable nylon breakers. The Vectran™Breaker does not affect rolling resistance.
