Bead Bite Technology 

The Bead Bite Technology is a patented technology from the company Spank that significantly improves the performance of tubeless rims. Simply put, the Bead Bite Technology is an array of 6 ridges that run parallel to the sidewall of the rim. These ridges act like an air seal for a tubeless tire when the tire bead lays over them, thereby reducing the risk of air escaping between the tire and the rim. Especially when used with low tire pressure or higher loads, this can prevent a puncture on a longer ride. This technology also significantly increases the friction between the tire and the rim, preventing the tire from slipping significantly either horizontally or vertically.
