Powerlock
The chain engineers at SRAM developed the PowerLock as a tool-free, secure, and consistent connection option. Although no special tools are required for mounting PowerLock (PL), due to the tight tolerance range of a 10- and 11-speed drive, each PowerLock is only intended for single use.

Flattop
Imagine you could increase the gear range of your transmission, while shifting more smoothly and in smaller steps! Imagine you wouldn't lose any efficiency and wouldn't have to change the chain more frequently! Our unique Flattop chain link design makes all this possible.

X-Range
X-Range achieves this by shifting part of the gear range from the front to the back. This means they used a smaller, consistent difference (13 teeth) between the chainrings, while SRAM gives the cassettes a larger gear range (up to 10-36 or 360%!). This means you can stay on the same chainring longer and need fewer front shifts, which are inherently less efficient than rear shifts. And when a front shift is performed, the smaller jump is smoother and allows you to reach the right cadence with fewer compensatory shifts at the back. Fewer and faster front shifts make it easier for you to find the right gear, and that's a significant performance advantage over conventional drives.

You will notice that X-Range is based on cassettes built around a 10-tooth sprocket. This allows SRAM to keep the sprockets and chainrings overall smaller, eliminating the potential weight gain of an 11-tooth drive with a large gear range. The smaller package also reduces system complexity. With X-Range, you get everything you've ever wanted from a drive.
