Dynamic Structure
The majority of the twisting forces and lateral loads are absorbed by the lower part of the frame. The head tube, down tube and chainstays resist the loads and efficiently transfer the power to the rear wheel. The more torsion-resistant the frame shows itself here, the more power is brought from the legs directly to the ground and the more immediate the power transmission.
OMX - 830gr (M)
Orbea Monocoque X (OMX) frames rely on an exclusive combination of highly modular and high-strength carbon fibers. Prepreg carbon mats are laser cut to minimize material consumption and overlapping areas. In addition, the frame is elaborately preformed to achieve optimum compaction with as little carbon as possible. The use of a mold made entirely of expanded polystorol (EPS) and latex inserts prevents wrinkles and voids.
Comfort
So the new Alma has thinner seat stays, for example. Thanks to reduced cross-section and diameter, they provide a graceful support for the seat tube. The top tube, on the other hand, is particularly robust at the front of the head tube to increase torsional rigidity. Towards the rear, however, the top tube tapers rapidly to save material and thus weight.
The damping properties achieved by the carbon layup and the narrow design of the top tube and seat stays give the Alma a dynamic yet smooth ride, with which the bike just glides along over rough ground. The effect is subtle, but still noticeable. At the end of a tough race, just such a detail can make the difference between a spot on the podium and the consolation prize.
Orbea World Cup Geometry
Years of developing top-of-the-line cross-country bikes have resulted in the Alma's World Cup geometry. The riding position is aggressive, fast, yet comfortable. Compared to trail geometry, which sacrifices a little precision for endurance, cross-country geometry is designed for precision riding and maximum power transfer.
OC Cockpit
With the unique design of OC steering head, spacer and stem, they have given Orbea's cross-country family a completely new, integrated look. This also includes the optional holder for the bike computer, which is compatible with all popular brands via adapter. The interaction of the OC components completes the high-end claim of their modern cross-country bikes.
Block
The Acros Blocklock 164º headset limits the deflection of the handlebar and thus prevents damage to the frame. Working closely with Acros, they were able to minimize the overall height and integrate the system as best as possible into the cockpit of their carbon Almas.
