Bicycle rims for the bike and every application
Rims for the MTB
When building a new wheel you need in addition to the hub additionally a bicycle rim and spokes. In our shop we carry bicycle rims for a wide variety of tire sizes and applications. For Downhill and Enduro, you should primarily choose a very stable rim, which can handle even the toughest stone fields and radical jumps without defects. In other areas, such as cross-country driving, weight plays a very important role. If you already own a specific bike hub or consider a model, you must pay attention to the number of holes when buying the rim and the bike spokes.
The common sizes of MTB rims are 26 ", 27.5" and 29 ". In the enduro and downhill are mainly 27.5 "Rims installed. With some Enduros and especially on cross-country bikes 29" rims are used. The advantage of the larger wheels is smoothness and greater control when going over edges and roots. The 29 "bikes run much quieter and overrun so many obstacles gentler, than do the smaller 27.5" wheels. But on some Enduro tracks and DH tracks, you're better off with 27.5 "rims, because the smaller wheels are a lot more manoeuvrable because of their size and can be moved more dynamically through bends - a general answer to the question whether 27.5" or 29 "is better, so it can not really be given, it depends a lot on the routes, your riding style and your bike.
For long tours, we also recommend carrying some replacement spokes. The cancellation of a tour because of broken spokes on the bike is annoying and unnecessary at the same time!
Rims for discs and rim brakes
It is important, of course, that the rim is designed for the existing brake system on your bike. For example, rims offer a special brake flank for operation with a rim brake, which does not have a disc-only rim. Depending on the application, you must also choose the spokes. Some rims require special bicycle spokes. After spoking, the application of a pressure-resistant rim tape should not be forgotten. High-quality rim tapes do not slip even under high loads and guarantee maximum protection for the bicycle hose. For optimum fit, the rim bands are available in different widths. For spoking and centering of wheels, special centering stands are suitable. In general, the spoking of a new impeller is not recommended for beginners, but only experienced screwdrivers. Alternatively, you can naturally have your bike spoked up with almost any two-wheeler mechanic.
Rims for singlespeeders and fixies
When building your wheel you need next to the track wheel rim and corresponding spokes also suitable single speed or fixie hubs. We carry fixie rims for a wide variety of applications and requirements. For street action, you should choose a sturdy high profile rim that can handle tricks and smaller jumps. For longer tours the weight plays a bigger role. Here you should also attach great importance to brand quality and longevity at the hub. A smooth-running bike saves a lot of energy, especially over long distances. Lightweight wheels can also accelerate much faster. Carbon rims push the overall weight enormously and are an excellent Tuningmöglichkeit.
The fixie rim - Also for the style!
An important point in building a singlespeed bike is of course the look. Here the wide range of colors and profile shapes offers you a huge range for your bike. Fixie rims for use with a rim brake have special brake flanks, which do not have pure track wheel rims in part. Please check before buying exactly your purpose and selects accordingly the rim model! For the perfect impeller assembly different 28 "rim bands, hoses and tires are offered.
