Description
The most ridden and in recent years most successful downhill tire in the world. The Minion DHF combines proven elements such as beveled lugs for low rolling resistance and great running smoothness with longitudinally slotted lugs for more grippy edges. This gives it excellent directional stability and precise cornering. It is the reference for fast trails, from light freeride to hard downhill.
Tubeless tires have many advantages: You can ride with less air pressure. This gives you better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there's no tube, the risk of punctures goes down, too. Maxxis TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "Tubeless Ready" tires. The bead of the TR tires is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like a real UST tubeless tire. This makes tubeless mounting on all rims with standard dimensions already successful with the first inflation and with little liquid. Also "normal" Maxxis MTB tires can be mounted tubeless with sealant like tires of other manufacturers, because the carcass fabrics are very dense. Officially approved for tubeless mounting and guaranteed by Maxxis are but only the new Maxxis TR models.
The well-known 3C downhill compound, trusted by many of the best downhillers for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. 3C MaxxGrip provides the ultimate grip and cushioning for unparalleled traction on downhills.
Doubledown tires are built like Maxxis downhill tires: two carcass plies reinforced with a butyl insert in the sidewall. However, with two 120 TPI (instead of 60TPI) carcass plies and aramid bead, they are significantly lighter than downhill tires, much stronger and more robust than TR + EXO tires, making them ideal for tough enduro courses.
