For the best in the man
The Ergon development team has done intensive research on men's health. The main cause of discomfort when cycling is the saddle. In men, high pressure on the extremely sensitive perineal area leads to feelings of numbness, among other things. The testicles and penis, on the other hand, rarely cause discomfort because they can avoid the pressure of the seat. The SM Sport Men relieves the male perineum ideally: with MRI and CT analyses, many prototypes and test riders, we have ergonomically tuned the saddle precisely to the anatomy and needs of the man.
More free space for the legs
The male pelvis is less flexible compared to women. This means that men sit more upright on the saddle and put more strain on the sit bones. Therefore, the transition area between the rear of the saddle and the saddle nose can be kept narrow (Y-shape). So the legs have more free space for pedaling.
Men are different - we get it
In contrast to the female anatomy, men's pubic rami are much steeper in relation to each other, and the symphysis pubis is much higher. We have also taken this significant difference between men and women into account in the development of the saddle.
No pressure on sensitive areas
It all comes down to the right distribution of pressure. To protect the sensitive perineal area, the pressure must be shifted to the sit bones and parts of the pubic arches - this is exactly how the relief surface of the Ergon men's saddles works. Due to the upright male pelvis, we have kept the surface flat and even for the best possible freedom of movement, for the support we use the highest quality foams.
The right size
Shaping and size of the seat of a saddle must fit the seat bone distance of the driver.
Since the pelvic bones taper forward in a V-shape, the saddle must be able to provide the sit bones with a sufficiently large contact surface in different sitting positions. The saddle widths are selected so that the usable seat surface corresponds in each case to the seat bone distance.
The more forwardly a rider sits, the further forward the sit bones touch the saddle.
